This time a big chain restaurant, Bennigan's, gets it (our East Dallas neighbors were hit hard today by the loss of Kitchen 1924)— Bennigan's. The chain declared bankruptcy today, according to a spokesperson —an employee told the Morning News he'd been instructed not to speak to the media. (What are they going to do, fire him?) While I never really enjoyed the food at Bennigans, I hold a special spot in my heart for the Northwest Highway location. The restaurant provided me with my first ever job— as a hostess then as a waitress. And I think I may have learned more about life and people from waiting tables than I did in college.
Not only did Bennigan's bite the dust, I heard Steak and Ale closed all locations as well. While we had not visited a S&A for years, it was a Dallas institution.

Ah, yes. I tend to forget Steak and Ale's are, make that WERE, still around. They were sister restaurant to Bennigan's.
