Hopefully by now you've read about all the fantastic goings on at East Lake Veterinary Hospital, 10101 E. Northwest Highway in your August Advocate magazine. For the folks at the pet orphanage July is "cat month" and they are cutting the fee for cat adoptions in half. Normally it costs $135, but today — the last day of the deal—you can adopt a kitty for $67.50. Adoptions are subject to approval by an adoption counselor. Check out pictures and details here. While you're at it, browse the veterinary hospital web site. They have so much going on around that place that I couldn't possibly fit it all in the printed story.
Great veterinary hospital (except for how expensive they are). It is a wonderful little pet orphanage they run as well. They also are a collection spot for injured birds before volunteers take them to a wildlife rehabilitation place in Hutchins or Wilmer. They are very client education oriented and host seminars monthly for clients to learn more about pet care. At one time they held events for the children to learn about responsible pet ownership. East Lake is open 7 days a week and we have used them more than on an emergency basis on Sundays when one of our animals has gotten ill. All of the vets at East Lake are top notch. I just wish they weren't so expensive, but you get what you pay for!
